As a qualified counsellor, I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental environment where I can help you gain insight into the less conscious aspects of your thinking, behaviour and feelings.
There are many reasons why people come for counselling. Together we can explore and address concerns surrounding many different issues, some of which might be:
· Bereavement and loss.
· Anxiety/fear.
· Change: divorce, redundancy and many others.
· Relationship issues.
· Abuse: past or present, sexual, physical, mental or financial.
· Confidence and self esteem.
· Addictions.
· Depression.
· Eating disorders.
My role as therapist is to help you find clarity and perspective so you can build healthy relationships and better manage your internal world. Over time, you will gain your own insights allowing you to feel more in control and able to trust in your own strengths and internal resources, allowing you to make the changes needed to improve your life and well-being.
Therapy is a rewarding personal experience between people. It requires commitment and effort on both sides. There will be times that it may be challenging as we explore parts of ourselves we might prefer to avoid or feel are unacceptable. If we are willing to take the risk, within the safety of the therapeutic space, counselling rewards us with a deeper understanding of ourselves and enriches our lives with more awareness and meaning.

I practice as an integrative counsellor, which means I use my knowledge of various therapeutic models whilst working with you. This allows me the freedom and flexibility to work in a way which suits YOU as an individual: I fit with you, instead of you fitting into a therapeutic model.
I have worked as a counsellor at Bridgwater and Taunton College. Here, I worked with a wide age group, from sixteen-year-olds who are just starting out, to mature students who may be retraining and members of staff. This work allowed me to gain experience in many different areas of counselling. I also volunteered with Mind where I specialised in working with those bereaved by suicide.
All my work is carried out in compliance with the NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) ethical framework and guidelines. I undertake regular supervision, attend professional development events and I also engage in regular training to keep my skills and knowledge up to date. Some of my recent CPD includes an Introduction to Working with Eating Disorders, Suicide Prevention Training and Working with Clients and Tourette Syndrome.
I can offer brief focused counselling where we can address a current situation, as well as longer term psychotherapy where we can work together to explore deeper rooted difficulties which may have built up over time as a result of your earliest experiences.
I am able to offer face to face sessions or online sessions all day on a Tuesday,

How many sessions?
Firstly book a session and come along so that we can get to know each other. Sessions usually take place weekly but I can be flexible as can the number of sessions, with reviews along the way. However if you wish we can agree a set number of sessions at the beginning of our time together.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel an appointment the normal charge will be incurred unless I receive 48 hours notice, this is because vacant slots are unlikely to be filled at short notice.
